Glasshouses is another piece inspired by West Dean. The walled gardens are wonderful there – full of flowers in the Summer months. This piece has a specially dyed background – created using thickened procion dyes which are left to cure before being washed out completely.
The fabrics are hand-dyed painted and printed, then appliqued, before being stretched over a board, mounted, framed and glazed. The frame is a stunning light grey frame with small silver edge detail with a white mount (and UV glass) – very fresh and contemporary.
